Talk through my Houston options
What brings you here?
A business renewal
Bring us your recent bill and contract end date. We can review available alternatives with your operating needs in mind.
A home or apartment
Moving or staying put? Your expected start date and household usage help shape the comparison.
Several properties
Start with a list of addresses. We’ll discuss the locations and timing together, then check each property’s options.
A conversation with a Cypress-based team.
A bill is a useful starting point. Your plans for the property give it context.
Tell us about a move, a lease change, a growing business, or an agreement that is about to expire. Need more than electricity? Ask about commercial natural gas or business internet as part of the conversation.
Your provider and your utility have different jobs.
The electricity plan
At eligible addresses, a retail electricity provider sells the plan you choose. Comparing offers means reviewing the price, term, fees, and conditions alongside your usage.
The delivery network
CenterPoint Energy delivers electricity in much of the Houston area and handles its network's outages. Choosing a different retail plan does not change the delivery utility serving your address.
Greater Houston includes different service territories. A Houston-area mailing address alone does not establish retail choice. Start with the utility and service address on your bill; some cooperative, municipal, and other territories do not offer the same choice of providers. Read the Texas PUCT guide to electric choice ↗.
Bring more than one month's number.
A plan should make sense across the way you use electricity.
If available, bring 12 months of kWh usage so a comparison can account for higher- and lower-use months. For a new Houston home or business, share the move-in date, property type, and expected operating hours instead of treating an estimate as measured usage.
For residential offers, read the Electricity Facts Label and contract terms. Check delivery charges, base fees, credit thresholds, rate type, and cancellation terms. For commercial offers, ask which charges are included and whether demand or other usage-based charges apply.
Our Estimated Bill Calculator illustrates entered rates and usage; it does not retrieve available offers. Explore home electricity or business electricity for the next step.
